REWIND 10-15 years ago when social media barely existed, where you met people face to face rather than hiding behind a screen, and a time when people walked down the street looking where they were going rather than glued to their smartphone. Fast forward to today and the world is a different place, with social media at the forefront of everything. Influence now seems to be judged on how much of a following you have across social media. If you're a model, you are now often asked how many followers you have on Instagram, and could be the difference between booking a job and not. When I get asked, my response will often be, "If you give me 24 hours I will have as many followers as you require for the job". The ease at which people buy followers or sign up to a progressive scheme that builds your following through a robotic method is unbelievable. Do clients know that people do this? Do clients know that people can even buy likes? I haven't got the answer to that. ...

Working as a model for nine years for brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Diet Coke and Bacardi and being able to travel the world has been a dream come true. In 2007, I was spotted by a top european agency and have never looked back. OK thats not entirely true. I have threatened to quit numerous times, but I am still here fighting the fight.  My first job was shooting a TV commercial for Esprit, which involved travelling the world for four weeks, from Munich to Hong Kong, New Zealand, Fiji oh and finishing up in Vegas! I was getting familiar with airport’s, shooting catalogues in Athens, Majorca, working in Tokyo for two months and filming commercials in Portugal and Paris.  Two years was spent in Los Angeles signed to Wilhelmina Models, one of the most recognised names in the industry before returning to London and continually working from catwalk shows to catalogues, commercials to underwear shoots. The Hanbury Hotel and Country Club, an incredible vintage Jenson and a scruffy lad from Essex..... Ok maybe not too scruffy here thanks to the stylist putting me in clothes that you would never normally see me in! This was a different styled shoot for me. An editorial. A bit more serious, a bit more structured, but the visualisation (toilet paper word) is so much more impressive. A fantastic backdrop at a beautiful countryside hotel, which I would recommend to anyone looking for an English break away (especially if you like your golf). But the car! I mean...wow!!! They seriously don't make them like this anymore, but there is something special about them. Now I'm not a "car" fan, however I certainly am able to appreciate these incredible wheels! MODELLING is such an up and down industry and one you can never really rely on unless you are right at the top of the game. This is not something new and it has always been like that for me since I started in the industry nine years ago. I guess thats the same situation for any self-employed people.  Living each day not knowing what will come in and when work does, taking full advantage of the busy times. For me working at night on ITV and modelling and also studying means that at times my sleep is heavily sacrificed, as is my social life. But these are the times you need to push through and take advantage of because I know it won't last for long. It will be back to those weeks that pass through without a sniff of work. When I made the plunge into the world of journalism I had thoughts of writing gripping articles, learning the art of interviewing and getting my name in a newspaper under an article. Well maybe thats all to come, BUT I did not foresee having to learn this... Nope its not French, or Spanish, even though it looks like a foreign language, its Shorthand writing. This is the Teeline style of it. A true journalistic skill. The aim is to be able to write this at 100 words per minute. A task that at the moment looks a million miles away! 100 WPM is the barrier that employers look for from a journalist. We tend to speak at about 150 words a minute on average. With the developments in technology with dictaphones and mobile phones and other recording devices, shorthand isn't exactly used as much as before. So what's the point? In a lot of circumstances journalists might not be able to use a recording device. It can be such a useful skill to have to be able to jot down...

Social Media has changed so much in our lives, from speaking with friends, storing photo albums, shopping, DATING and now it's even changed what 'some' people perceive as being cool. What is your perception of 'being cool'? I have an image in my head of a confident person walking down the street dressed cool, without a care in the world of how anyone else perceives them. This is what I picture when I think 'COOL' Yes OK it's David Beckham. And let's be honest he is one of the coolest men on the planet. How about a better example, a neutral one. This laid back guy with a cool hair style, a leather jacket (which is a classic sign of being cool right) and just oozing confidence. The past few months have been indifferent to say the least. If you were to scroll down my blog, the last post at the end of March was at the completion of the ICC job. I was upbeat, buzzing in fact! Full of energy and enthusiasm to tackle whatever was to come next. I honestly thought that although I knew I had a lot of work to do, I was in a really good position to make strides and take giant leaps forward for my presenting within sport. And at the start it looked as though this would be the case. I got approached by a friend of mine who works for Glamorgan CC (a professional cricket team in the UK) to host their T20 matches. I was absolutely delighted as you can imagine, so quickly after my first cricket job and I have my next lined up. This was a great opportunity. Live event hosting in a sport I absolutely love. A different experience in a stadium with between 5000 and 10000 people, not to mention professional cricketers from the past to the present. Bit of a treck for me ...

37 Shows - 6 weeks long - daily deadlines - and finally it has now come to an end. THE most fun working project I have had to date. THE hardest working project I've been involved in to date. THE most challenging project I have taken on. But THE most rewarding one to date. The picture above was from Episode 1. I remember that day so clearly and I remember how incredibly nervous I was too. This was a big project for me, time to step up and present something that i have a big passion for first and foremost. Secondly there was a potential that this could be reached by a huge audience, which could only be a positive for me. That all sat in my mind, as well as the script that was going through my head. As well as thinking to myself that if it all goes wrong on episode 1 for whatever reason that maybe they would stop production. Friday lunch time, the phone rings and I've been booked on a last minute little shoot for the Mail on Sunday. It's great to be booked on any job to be honest, I mean thats how I earn my money and pay my bills! But it does give you a bit of a panic when you are all set for the day ahead. Slightly rushed, but like many of my posts, this is being written on a Monday morning at 11.15am, so if one day I have to rush, I know full well I will have many more days where I'm not rushed. Now this job for the Mail on Sunday is for 2 hours, which knowing its for a one picture article for the paper, it shouldn't take too long to shoot. Those that know me, will know I go through phases when it comes to my fitness and working out. At times I can be great and really on it, enjoying having that motivation for the gym and getting into good shape. Other times though, my motivation dips massively and I find all the excuses under the sun to become more and more lazy. I think we've all been there lets be honest!!! The same goes with my diet. I have been good in the past, avoided heavy carbs (no carbs before marbs all that jazz), ate lots of vegetables, protein etc and the difference it makes you feel is great. But I love my food, I love eating what I want too. When I was younger I could eat and drink what I wanted, and with exercise maintain a good shape. Amazing what happens when you hit 30?!?! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!!! MAY 2015 BE EVERYTHING YOU EVER IMAGINED IT WOULD BE! I think my first New Years Resolution will be to sort out my technological impotence!!! The summer has passed, the weddings, the summer nights, the fun, the playing has all now come to a close. I love the summer, but its also my most dangerous time of the year for me, as I become very lax when it comes to work, and what I have to do to progress within the entertainment industry. I didn't once go to the gym in August, becoming very lazy, unhealthy, eating and drinking lots, which yes was fun and yes sometimes its nice to take a break from the requirements of my job, but does it help me? Not one tiny little bit. Others won't take a break. Competitors will continue to network, continue to work out, continue to be absolutely ready come the end of summer for the industry to pick up. BUT, one thing I am doing now is knuckling down harder than ever. Work is tough. There have been a lot of changes at my ITV job that mean there are fewer nights available to work as of this month. A blogging hiatus is finally over! Maybe it was the pre and post blues of turning 30, I don't know! You turn 30 and all you think about is when you were younger and everyone always said "by the time I'm 30, I want to be...". It was never 40 was it?! And did I think that by the time I'm 30 I would be doing what I'm doing now??? Hell No! I thought I would be in a stable job, probably a 9 till 5 thing, working my way up the corporate ladder. Maybe thought I would be married as well....Well what do we know when we're kids! You know what, it wasn't even that bad and its just a number at the end of the day and believe me nothing changes what so ever. So, 3 months to review...and to be honest not a huge amount has happened, just been plodding along taking things day by day. Working fairly hard...well sometimes of course. Its tough at times because it feels like I am back at school, but I strangely am enjoying learning something new and going back to the basics of a new skill. Most of this I have to thank Terence Dormer for. He's been after a shout out in my blog for ages, so here it is!!! Ha Ha Ha. But in all seriousness he has been pushing me to get into acting and start classes. To have a mate there who knows the industry and is looking out for you and can be honest about your chances with career moves is very important. We now have many regular talks about acting classes and many silly conversations on the phone and sing songs whilst walking down the street! ha. I think the picture above really sums up how I feel at the moment. Relaxed, comfortable and very happy. It's been a busy start to the year and been consistently working with regular clients and picking up little jobs here and there thats kept me very busy. Work at ITV has been great too, especially when we hit targets and reflects well on to me, especially considering I am still one of the newbies. ITV Work on ITV has been going very well this last month. Had a very busy time in January, but was surprisingly very busy. Whats great about the show is the amount of tweets and emails that come in. Gets absolutely crazy at times. I think what surprises a lot of people is getting more emails from guys than girls! ha ha. Now, some of these emails do go far beyond what they should be and I have had some pretty horrific ones sent in too. People do like to get sexual at that time of night! ha ha. But most of it is good banter and again good on air practice for me. Mode...

SUPERMAN!!!!!! ;-) Yes this is me doing my thing in Superman pants! Ah the things we do for money hey?! But wanted to talk about the less so glamorous side to the industry and as you can see from above this is certainly it!!! E-commerce work is something that many clothing companies have for models and is something that is extremely regular and crucial to keep going for your bank balance! ha. But very true. Let me tell you though, it's not glamorous one tiny little bit and it really is some very tedious work. Now, I know this sounds like I'm complaining about it (ok maybe a little), but I am very thankful for the work and anything regular in this industry is a bonus. And you can't see my face either ;-) probably for the best right ha ha. But the good thing is that unrecognisable work gives you the option of doing work with a variety of different companies.
